From Professional Football to the Stock Market

I recently caught up with the CEO of The Pebble Group, Chris Lee. Chris has enjoyed an interesting Career…Ex professional footballer from the English League, a qualified accountant, and as CEO of The Pebble Group has been the man responsible for floating the business on AIM. We asked Chris the following three questions.

What transferrable skills can you reference from your football career to your current role?

Being an organised team, having clear roles and a winning attitude makes a big difference to the results of any team.

What advice would you give to any leader in business?

Listen, learn then make your own decisions. If you get things wrong, don’t be afraid to change without hesitation or guilt. Be determined, things don’t go in your favour all the time .

As the leader of a global brand, how do you keep a feeling of “togetherness” throughout your team?

Have a consistent strategy and tell everyone what it is. Ensure your team represents the cross section of functions and sites in your organisation. They can act as your communication tool at a local level.
